Believing

"So why are you a Christian, Esi?” a friend asked me today. “I’ve never asked you.”

“A personal God,” I said, “and nature.”

And then I started thinking. How many of us don’t know why we are Christians? How many of us have no idea why we believe what we do? A lot.

“Oh, yah, I’m a Christian,” I’ve heard so many people say. But if I were to ask them why, I bet you I’d get a blank stare asking me, “Why the heck would you asked that?” It’s a valid question though.

Why am I Christian? Because I know that God is personal. I have felt his presence in my life, I have ‘heard’ him speak to me, I’ve seen Him answer when I pray. That’s what I believe.

Why do you believe? Don't just blindly follow your friends or parents to church, know for yourself. Don't just nod your head at what the pastor says, read the Bible. Know what you belive, develop your own convictions! And when you do, you'll discover that God rewards those who trust Him personally. Just like He rewarded me for finally (after 12 years) really starting to believe for myself.
